Due to their lack of protection, motorcyclists need to take more care than road users in vehicles. This information will help to improve your safety when riding motorcycles or mopeds.

In 2019, 54 motorcyclists were killed in crashes and 1,439 motorcyclists were injured in crashes.

Councils in the Top of the South are working on campaigns, strategies and promotions with local clubs, riders and other organisations to reduce these figures.

*Note: Crash data for 2019 is not yet complete. Data is for all crashes reported by the Police to the NZ Transport Agency for the year 2019 as recorded in CAS at 11/05/2020.
