Motorcycle Awareness Month 2023

September was Motorcycle Awareness Month (MAM) so hopefully you took advantage of all the things on offer. Here’s what we did in Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough…

We supported events that gave Nelson/Tasman riders the opportunity to spend time with mechanics and learn how to do their own 10-point safety checks.

We reminded drivers to keep an eye out for motorcyclists with the 'Look Again' messages at the Richmond Mall.

We asked the Marlborough Road Riders group to share their own safety tips and everyone who answered went in the draw to win prizes.

We shared tips and info with Top of the South riders daily on our Instagram and Facebook.

And we shared a bunch of expert tips and a series of six podcast episodes from Dave Moss. If you missed these at the time, you can still listen here.

21 for September

This year’s Motorcycle Awareness Month was themed ‘21 for September’ because motorcycle riders are 21 times more likely than other road users to be killed or injured on our roads… and also because the Ride Forever team have 21 ways to counter that.

Who’s Behind MAM2023

ACC promotes Motorcycle Awareness Month, specifically the Ride Forever team. Supported by the likes of MSAC, NZ Police, local councils and Waka Kotahi along with gear retailers, dealerships and bike clubs, MAM aims to reduce accidents, injuries and fatalities.
